Eating Our Words: An Evening of Food and Poetry, featuring Tracy K. Smith

Join us as we celebrate the beginning of O, Miami at Boater's Grill on Key Biscayne with a traditional Cuban pig roast and buffet, and a poetry reading by rising star of American poetry, Tracy K. Smith.

Your thirty dollar admission fee includes the buffet. Beer, wine and soda will be available for purchase separately. (Student rate is $20 with valid ID shown day of. Without valid ID, you will be charged the remaining $10.)

Located on secluded No Name Harbor in Bill Bagg State park, Boater's Grill is one of the most beautiful settings in Miami-Dade County.

Tracy K. Smith was raised in Northern California. She received degrees in English and Creative Writing from Harvard College and Columbia University, and was a Wallace Stegner Fellow in poetry at Stanford University from 1997-99. Her first collection of poems, The Body's Question, was awarded the 2002 Cave Canem Poetry Prize by Kevin Young, and published in 2003 by Graywolf Press. She is the recipient of a 2004 Rona Jaffe Writers Award, and a 2005 Whiting Award.  Her second collection, Duende, received the 2006 James Laughlin Award from the Academy of American Poets and was published by Graywolf Press in 2007. She has taught at the City University of New York, University of Pittsburgh, and Columbia University.

Through programming and services, PEN USA cultivates a diverse, dynamic and engaged literary community that includes emerging and existing writers, translators, editors, agents, publishers, booksellers, teachers, librarians, readers: everyone who loves and supports language and literature.
